Read the dimensions
In the example 245/45 R19, 245 is nominal width in millimetres, 45 is the sidewall-height-to-width percentage and 19 is the wheel diameter in inches. R indicates radial construction. This is a reading example, not a recommended BMW fitment.
Include the remaining markings
Record the load index and speed rating, plus any construction or manufacturer markings. Photograph both axles rather than assume the front and rear are identical.
Cross-check before ordering
The current tyre may not be the original or correct specification. Send the vehicle placard or relevant handbook details too. Your exact variant and wheel package should be checked before a replacement is confirmed.
